As part of our continued growth, Josephine Koh Piano Academy (JKPA) has expanded beyond student performance and exam coaching, and is now an authorised ABRSM Teaching Diploma Centre.
This development formalises what has been established for many years – mentoring music teachers and advanced students towards ABRSM teaching qualifications and professional standards in pedagogy.

This pedagogy programme will be delivered through Joyeux Music Pedagogy Academy with on-site lectures held near Raffles Place, and online tutorials. For more information, please fill out the form below.

Founded by Bösendorfer Artist, author, and educator Josephine Koh, JKPA is Singapore’s leading centre for advanced piano training and music theory. Josephine Koh--Artistic Director of Joyeux Music International, conductor, and author of the internationally used Practice in Music Theory series—studied piano and orchestral conducting in London, Europe, and Russia. Her teaching philosophy blends Russian technical rigour with artistic sensitivity, ensuring that students develop not only flawless technique but also expressive, confident musicianship.

OUR PHILOSOPHY – THE JKPA METHOD

At Josephine Koh Piano Academy, we believe that excellence in music requires both structured discipline and artistic freedom. Our specialised programmes – the Gifted Music Programme and the Virtuoso Pianist Programme – are designed for serious students who aspire to achieve top results in ABRSM exams, excel in competitions, and reach significant performance milestones.

​Gifted Music Programme (Ages 8–12)
A performance-focused, examination-oriented track aligned with ABRSM syllabi. Entry is highly selective: students must achieve Grade 5 Distinction by age 10. The accelerated curriculum prepares them to complete Grade 8 by age 12, developing strong technical and musical foundations early.

Virtuoso Pianist Programme (Ages 13–18)
Tailored for high-achieving students, many of whom are enrolled in Singapore’s top MEP schools (RGS, RI, ACS(I), MGS). This elite track develops young pianists towards Associate, Licentiate, and Fellowship Diplomas, building mastery for competitions, advanced studies, and professional performance.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR MUSIC TEACHERS – COMING 2026
We believe that the training of teachers is as vital as the training of students. From 2026, our newly established Joyeux Piano Pedagogy Academy will offer a structured Professional Programme for piano teachers.
This programme will provide in-depth training in teaching methodology, preparing teachers for internationally recognised qualifications including the ARSM and LRSM in Teaching. It will be the first of its kind in Singapore, designed to equip teachers with practical skills, pedagogical knowledge, and exam-focused strategies.

COURSES FOR Professional Development 

SHINE! CONCERTO IN PERSPECTIVE IV. 
This event held on 20 June 2024 at the Victoria Concert Hall. 
Dr Pipetius Quah studied under his mother Josephine Koh and is currently a medical specialist at Woodlands Health.  ​
Ms Josephine Koh is the Artistic Director, Conductor and Pianist at this concert. ​
JANUARY: Josephine Koh conducted 'Sucess Assured' seminar for piano teachers to effectively prepare students for ABRSM exams 
FEBRUARY: Students sat for both Recorded and LIVE diploma examinations - to achieve their ARSM, ATCL and LTCL diplomas
MARCH: Josephine Koh represented Singapore to adjudicate in the Chopin International Piano Competition in USA.
APRIL: Students took part in masterclasses of the Singapore Chopin International Piano Competitiom 
MAY: Success stories of students. Another Distinction at LTCL 
JUNE: Josephine Koh conducted lectures for teachers in CHINA - Shanghai and Beijing
JULY - AUGUST: Students took part in various piano competitions. Claire Liang won GOLD in the Junior category of the Raffles Music Festival. Xavier Sheng achieved the highest score in the Youth category of the Kayserburg Competition and was selected to represent Singapore in the Grand Finals in China.   Brendon Lee qualified as one of the 6 finalists.  
AUGUST: National Day Celebration @ Binjai Park.  Our students performed at the Street Bazzaar for Minister Sim Ann.  
SEPTEMBER: Students took part in the Joyeux Music International Competition and performed in the Gala Winners' Concert.
OCTOBER: Mirelle Quah won the 1st prize in the Kayserburg Piano Competition Grade 8 category.  Many graded level students continue to achieve distinctions in the ABRSM exams.
NOVEMBER: Students once again prepare for their year end diploma exams.  Dr Krystian Tkaczewski came by to conduct masterclasses. 
DECEMBER: The CHRISTMAS PARTY CONCERT gathered jolly musicians, as families together to share and enjoy the occasion.
