The Artistic Piano Academy of Concert Pianist Josephine Koh
Josephine Koh Piano Academy offers advanced piano training and piano lessons in Bukit Timah, Singapore, for students preparing for ABRSM examinations, competitions, and performance diplomas.

Founded by Bösendorfer Artist, conductor, and educator Josephine Koh, the academy combines the technical discipline of the Russian piano school with the refined artistry of the European conservatoire tradition, guiding students towards musical excellence, confident performance, and outstanding examination results.
Students of the academy regularly achieve ABRSM distinctions and diploma qualifications, and participate in concerts, competitions, and masterclasses under the wider artistic platform of Joyeux Music International.

 Many JKPA students have progressed to advanced diplomas and conservatoire pathways, opening doors to scholarships and further studies internationally.
Josephine Koh--Artistic Director of Joyeux Music International, conductor, and author of the internationally used Practice in Music Theory series—received her musical training in London, Europe, and Russia, studying both piano performance and orchestral conducting. Her teaching philosophy integrates Russian technical rigour with refined musical interpretation, guiding students to develop not only secure technique but also expressive artistry and confident stage presence.

At JKPA, students consistently achieve high distinctions in ABRSM and Trinity piano examinations, with many progressing to diploma qualifications including ARSM, DipABRSM, ATCL, LTCL, LRSM, FTCL, and FRSM, as well as theory diplomas such as AMusTCL and LMusTCL.

Professional Teaching Diploma Centre
As part of its continued development, Josephine Koh Piano Academy (JKPA) has expanded beyond student performance training and examination preparation to become an Authorised ABRSM Teaching Diploma Centre, officially appointed on 17 November 2025.
This appointment formalises a role that Josephine Koh has long fulfilled within the music community — mentoring music teachers and advanced students in professional pedagogy, teaching methodology, and artistic development.
Through the combined activities of Josephine Koh Piano Academy and Joyeux Music Pedagogy Academy, a structured educational pathway is now available for both students and music teachers seeking advanced training and internationally recognised qualifications. Educational Pathways

OUR PHILOSOPHY – THE JKPA METHOD

At Josephine Koh Piano Academy, we believe that true musical excellence arises from the balance of disciplined technical training and artistic imagination. The JKPA Method integrates the technical rigour of the Russian piano school with the expressive artistry of the European conservatoire tradition, guiding students to develop secure technique, musical understanding, and confident stage presence. Our structured training pathways are designed for serious piano students seeking advanced musical development, whether preparing for ABRSM piano examinations, international competitions, or professional music diplomas.   Two specialised programmes form the core of our academy.

Gifted Music Programme (Ages 8–12)
Designed for musically gifted young pianists, this accelerated training pathway focuses on developing strong technical foundations and musical discipline during the most formative years of study.
The programme follows a performance-oriented curriculum aligned with ABRSM piano examination standards, preparing students to achieve outstanding results while developing expressive musicianship.
Admission is highly selective. Students are expected to demonstrate exceptional musical ability, typically achieving ABRSM Grade 5 Distinction by the age of 10, and progressing towards Grade 8 by age 12.
Through intensive repertoire study, technical training, and performance opportunities, students build the artistic confidence required for advanced musical study.

Virtuoso Pianist Programme (Ages 13–18)
The Virtuoso Pianist Programme is designed for highly motivated young musicians who aspire to reach the highest levels of piano performance.
Many students in this track are enrolled in Singapore’s leading Music Elective Programme (MEP) schools, including Raffles Girls’ School, Raffles Institution, ACS (Independent), and Methodist Girls’ School.
The programme focuses on developing mature artistic interpretation and advanced repertoire, guiding students towards Associate, Licentiate, and Fellowship performance diplomas such as ARSM, LRSM, FRSM, ATCL, LTCL, and FTCL.
Students receive intensive mentorship in performance preparation, interpretation, and competition repertoire, equipping them for international competitions, conservatoire auditions, and professional musical development.

JOYEUX MUSIC PEDAGOGY ACADEMY
At Josephine Koh Piano Academy, we believe that the advancement of music education depends not only on the training of talented students, but also on the professional development of dedicated music teachers.

From 2026, Joyeux Music Pedagogy Academy (JMPA)—an educational initiative under the artistic direction of Josephine Koh—offers a structured Professional Diploma Pedagogy Programme designed for piano teachers seeking advanced training in teaching methodology and musical interpretation.

The programme prepares teachers for internationally recognised ABRSM Teaching Diplomas, including the ARSM and LRSM in Music Teaching, and provides comprehensive training in areas such as pedagogical strategy, lesson planning, repertoire development, and examination preparation.

As one of the first structured programmes of its kind in Singapore, the academy aims to equip music educators with the practical skills, pedagogical insight, and professional standards required to guide the next generation of musicians.
