Theory Classes for Grades 1 - 5

Theory lessons are incorporated into regular weekly lesson times. There are no separate theory classes for Grades 1 – 5.

Theory Classes for Grades 6 - 8

Theory courses for grades 6, 7 and 8 are conducted in group classes of not more than 8 students. Practice in Music Theory and Musical Forms and Terms are used as core course books. Since 2005, Ms Josephine Koh has combined IT and multi-media with traditional teaching methods to bring about greater effectiveness. Most students obtain excellent results in the MEP (Music Elective Programme). Course work covers the theory syllabi of the ABRSM exams: Harmony, Counterpoint, Melodic Writing, Score Analysis, Music History, Perception and Composition.
