Graded Piano Courses

Students are prepared for graded examinations of The Associated Board Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Lessons are conducted on a weekly basis:

45 minutes for grades 1 to 4 (inclusive of music theory)
1 hour for grade 5 (inclusive of music theory)
1 hour for grades 6 to 8 (practical only)

Group theory classes for grades 6 to 8 and aural classes in June form the essential components that lead to the holistic music education offered at JKMS.

All students are prepared thoroughly in scales, sight-reading and aural tests. Constant evaluation is carried out during scheduled performance classes. Repertoire and technique development take place in the post-examination period between September to December. Besides preparing for exams, students are taught contemporary, modern and jazz piano styles based on the ANZCA Contemporary(Modern) piano syllabus. Selected students are given the opportunity to perfom in the annual JKMS Young Students’ Concert
